Phil retired from his law firm in 2010 and now works part-time in his own legal and strategic consulting practice as well as giving significant time as President and CEO of the TRHA and TRM and involvement in other volunteer activities.

He is an active O scale collector and modeler and is working on building the new Central Ontario Railway as a member of the Model Railroad Club of Toronto at its new home. He also devotes his time to operating and maintaining his collection of streetcars and interurbans representing southern Ontario systems and operates and displays his collection of O Scale railway equipment representing, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, New York Central System and the Canadian lines of the Wabash Railroad.
